Is the Black Diamond 1.0 right for my home?

Does a carbon filter soften water?
No. Carbon reduces chlorine, taste, odor and many organics, but not hardness minerals. If you're fighting scale, spotting and stiff laundry, you want the softener or the combo. If your water's soft enough and you just want it to taste better, carbon is the answer.
Will this remove nitrate from my well?
No — and we won't say otherwise. Activated carbon does not reduce nitrate. Nitrate reduction needs a reverse-osmosis system at the kitchen tap. If your water test shows nitrate, we'll recommend the correct system rather than this one.
How often does the carbon need replacing?
The metered backwash keeps the coconut carbon working, and whole-house carbon media is typically replaced on a multi-year cycle depending on your water and usage. We give you the expected schedule for your specific setup.
